Geri Halliwell for Next

It's pretty much a guaranteed fact that any girl born in the naughty 90's once loved, adored and idolised The Spice Girls during their short fame and I'm definitely no anomaly to that trend. Everything about the five girls was iconic;  their attitude, the way they dressed, their music and their 'girl power' message. For me and probably many others, Geri Halliwell really stood out from the start. She was ballsy, confident, fiery and she always knew how to get attention.

Since their famous split I've continued to follow the girls' progress and Geri in particular. She's already designed lingerie and swimwear collections for Next, which I love, especially the figure-enhancing bikinis.  Now she's designed a few very patriotic clothing pieces, all created with inspiration from that infamous dress of 1997. The hem lines are now considerably longer than the 't-shirt' dress worn at the Brits, as it to be expected seeing as Geri's now 15 years older (scary!)

Below are my three favourite items from the range: a Maxi dress, a Bikini and a T-shirt. They look great on Geri and I think the fact she models the clothes herself really sets off the collection. I think these pieces would look great on any body types and are suitable for pretty much all ages. Judging by her last collections, the pieces shouldn't be too expensive, making them a holiday-wardrobe must! Being ridiculously patriotic myself, I'll definitely be popping down to Next when the range is released in early March, I need to get my hands on that Maxi dress! 










2012 Resolutions

So it may be a little late but I've been contemplating doing a New Year’s Resolution-type post for a while now. Every year around this time I write and save a list of my wants and wishes for the forthcoming year on my laptop; this year, as I'm writing and committing to a blog, I may as well shed some (not all) light on my annual pledges for the future year:

-     Keep Up with Blog. One post a week MINIMUM and the writing has to be of good standard. NOT akin to some of the everyday rammel I've been publishing in recent weeks.

-     Don’t Crash Car. Touch wood. Also on last year's list.

-     2.1 and Nothing Less. Speaks for itself really. I'm graduating this year and anything below a 2.1 will not be worth the £21,000 debt I’ll be fashioning come July.

-     Look after Wesley. New puppy is here in two weeks and when I'm home I want to make up for the all the times I'm not and treat him like the true canine prince he is.

-     Embrace the Olympics. I LOVE all things sporting and all things British so during this year's Olympics I'll be glued to the TV at any and every moment possible. I'm lucky enough to have tickets for some track events and I am reeling with excitement already.

-     Some Form of Writing/Publishing Work Experience. Clearly been unlucky with my work experience so far, but I'm hopeful that my 13821947219 time will prove to be beneficial.

-     Amazing/Sufficiently Good 21^stbirthday. I HATE Birthdays. Well I hate my own birthdays -too much pressure and too much comparison to other people’s birthdays. I’m hoping for a weekend away with my homebirds and a messy night in Leeds.

-     Find a Husband...Or at Least a Date? I made substantial (for me) progress in 2011 but still find myself as single as Susan Boyle (who has now probably had more relationships than I have). Need to find a nice, suitable male that's not too old for me, or too stupid.

-     Enjoy Graduation and Leaving Uni. Not too many tears and an amazing night out will most definitely be in order (and needed after the hell that is my dissertation).

-     Write More, Care Less. I'd like to write more for HerCampus, Tweet, write AIESEC-related media and update my Blog. Most importantly I'd like to do this unashamedly and be proud of my work. I care far too much about what other people think, and although I'm getting better, I'd like to care a lot less about anyone that undermines me.

-     Holiday. Something at least half as good as last years trips to Spain, Cyprus and Cornwall would be lovely!

Ok so I promised a post detailing a few of my 2011 christmas presents, and here it is!!

Once again massive apologies for my shambolic photography - I have no idea how to work my mum's SLR and was in a bit of a rush to take the pictures before she cottoned on to the fact I'd 'borrowed' her precious and expensive camera. I also didn't get round to taking the pictures until Boxing day; at this point I'd already taken the labels off a few things and been for a walk in my new Ugg boots!

I have an absolute shopoholic/spendaholic of a mother so she tends to go a little overboard at Christmas time, leaving me feeling rather spoilt, but loved all the same.

Anyway, here are a few of my beautiful gifts...

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisterizer - an absolute godsend. I've been literally scraping out last years' pot for the last couple of months, I love it!

Hunter Fleece Welly Socks - to compliment my pair of discounted Hunter wellies I purchased earlier this year.

TOWIE Boxset (I am a not-so-closet lover of trashy TV), Bridemaids DVD (hilarious) and Amy Winehouse's new album which I've already listened to and absolutely love - going straight in the car I think!  

Possibly my favourite gifts - a MAC Lipstick and a MAC surf-baby bronzer. Need that glow in the current climate!

My favourite scent at the minute - Carolina Herrena '212 On Ice'. Very hard to get at this time of year but Santa obviously found a way! (Amazon)

A girl can never have too many bags. An ALDO shopper on the left and a Warehouse clutch on the right. Both are gorgeous and will go with pretty much anything.

A personalised cushion  made by my very own Mother <3 Pink enough and girly enough for a 10 year old but I don't care!  

An engraved ring that says 'love conquers all things'. I chose this myself and I love it because of the sentimental value.

Chocolate UGGs. Had two pairs previously and pretty much lived in both of them. Chocolate colour came on sale on ASOS a while back and I made sure Santa knew about it!

Not Vivienne Westwood, but a similar style - and who's going to ask. Going to save these statement earrings for night time outfits I think!

Another much-loved product that I've been running out of of late. I've tried both Fake Bake's lotion tanner and mousse and while they are both great, I personally prefer the mousse for a lighter, more even coverage.

More 'girly bath shit'. Princess bubble bath, shampoo, body wash and cleanser, fairly boring.

A surprise but I really like this. Anew from Avon's foaming cleanser. Very fresh and moisterizing.

A selection of Boots' Body Butters. Absolutely love body butter at this time of year and each of these smells divine.

A Tog 24 thermal hat and an FCUK snood. Both extremely useful for chilly Forest matches and bitter walks up to Uni in January. 

Fat Face Pajama shorts. I'm yet to even try these on as my poor pins can't quite face being exposed around the house. Give it two months however and I'll be living in these babies!

More Summer 2011 Nostalgia: St Ives, Cornwall

My last post, 'Take me back to Cyprus', left me reminiscing over more of my travelling memories from 2011. June blessed me with a family trip to one of my favourite places in the world, St Ives, Cornwall. We hired a small cottage in the centre of St Ives, close to Porthmeor beach where we spent nearly every day.
It's the sort of place where on a nice day you can lay on the beach, look out to the sea and feel like you could be literally anywhere. Here's a few of my fave snaps:

...I had a go at surfing but spent far more time being washed ashore than actually surfing. Still, I felt I had to try it out!

Shopping In St Ives

Cornwall is well renowned for its' surf, Porthmeor Beach is widely regarded as offering the best surfing conditions in St Ives.

Actually managed a good tan to say I was sunning myself in England! If only tans lasted the whole year...
