Bronzed and Beachy: Summer Make-Up Look

I don't know why but whenever the weather is cold and grim ALL I can think about is holidays, tanning and glorious summer sunshine.

As the snow fell heavily in Leeds on Saturday afternoon I found myself day dreaming about white sandy beaches, looking through thousands of old holiday snaps and even applying a cheeky extra layer of fake bake; all completely subconsciously but without an ounce of shame.

To remedy my mood, I decided to create Summer a make-up look on my amazing i-pod app to make me feel a tad more optimistic about the abysmal sight out of my window. Even though my skin is completely untanned right now, sometimes I like to wear warm, golden-toned make-up at least to look a bit healthier and to feel a little bit better about the fact I'm almost as pasty as an albino vampire. I wanted to share the look with any blog readers who may be feeling just as depressed about the cold as I am - it won't be long before we can all have a natural, glowing skin colour again!

Unfortunatley (or not) experimenting has given me a fair few products to add to my ever-growing make-up wishlist....

More Summer 2011 Nostalgia: St Ives, Cornwall

My last post, 'Take me back to Cyprus', left me reminiscing over more of my travelling memories from 2011. June blessed me with a family trip to one of my favourite places in the world, St Ives, Cornwall. We hired a small cottage in the centre of St Ives, close to Porthmeor beach where we spent nearly every day.
It's the sort of place where on a nice day you can lay on the beach, look out to the sea and feel like you could be literally anywhere. Here's a few of my fave snaps:

Porthmeor Beach, on the north coast of the town and about a 5 minute walk from our cottage.

...I had a go at surfing but spent far more time being washed ashore than actually surfing. Still, I felt I had to try it out!

The Harbour; lots of boats, tourists and a few seals!

By the Harbour. Saw a few Seals near here.

Shopping In St Ives

Cornwall is well renowned for its' surf, Porthmeor Beach is widely regarded as offering the best surfing conditions in St Ives.

Actually managed a good tan to say I was sunning myself in England! If only tans lasted the whole year...

Holiday Blues: Take Me Back to Cyprus!

So it's the 8th of December and the weather in Leeds is shocking to say the least.

The ITV weather girl actually said 'We've also had some rain in the North this morning' which HAS to be the understatement of the year by far. Some rain? I managed to get absolutely soaked on my way 20 minute walk to Uni both on the way and on the way back; wind, rain, sleet, snow, mud - you name it, I got covered in it.

Anyway the dreadful weather has got me missing Summer 2011 and my holiday to Ayia Napa, Cyprus, most of all. I had the most AMAZING time and would give anything to be back on the beach right now rather than in dreary, rainy Leeds. Here's a few snaps from my much-deserved girly week in the sun:

My favourite photograph of the whole holiday. Taken at around 6am on Nissi Beach, just after we went for a swim coming back from our last night out. My friend Olivia caught this on a disposable camera just as we waded back to shore in our underwear...amazing picture!

Me (far right) and the three of my best friends that accompanied me. These girls made my holiday!

An all-you-can-drink beach party; this was only going to end in a mess really - and it did.

We hired out a Pedalo on Nissi Beach, which was a fantastic experience and so much fun! Beautiful clear blue sea, clear sky and a scorching sun to aid our tans and heal our hangovers...bliss

A bar crawl on our first night (and I think our first shot). Turned out to be the first of many!

Me getting a slightly/very inappropriate henna Tattoo...had to be done!

Me by the pool. 'The love of my life' by Louise Douglas was my summer read...an incredible book.

The last night called for matching t-shirts :)

An Olympic Holidays' Beach Party

River Reggae...a club that actually had a swimming pool. Quite dangerous after a few too many drinks

At the airport before flying back to the UK...I was truly gutted!
